Float. It was my first time. Let's
just say I genuinely, no I sincerely fell in love with this place. I drove pass
it a few times on the seawall of
Galveston, Tx. I noticed the color as I passed it up feeling infused
with the aura of the seaside scenery. The cool, calm, blue was a compliment to
the surprisingly clean beach ocean front adjacent to Pleasure Pier. I had to work
until around 6ish where the heat was settling and the light was beginning
to accentuate the horizon that you take on when viewing the seawall around
dusk. Now here is where the story gets interesting. I decide to park and go for
a stroll on the heavier traffic beach front after spending the earlier part of
the afternoon on eastside beach. I thought a cool drink overlooking the attractions
would be an amazing way to end the day. I brought a cooler but didn't want to
spend the 15 plus dollars to drink alone out of an ice chest, so before I
settled on that I decided to check out what the locals had to offer. And there
it was, Float Pool and Patio Bar. I was attracted to the decor and headed in nervously to see what the
place had in store. Immediately, I felt comfortable. The cool aqua ambience,
the young energetic staff, and the open feel of like being at a pimped out frat
house was surreal to me. The coolest thing about this place is the terrace and
pool attraction that you can dive into hence the name Float Pool and Patio Bar. Its a 10 x 10 foot
pool located on the patio and a surrounding terrace overlooking it. It just
spoke beach life. Not the kind that you find here and there on hits and misses
and trial and error, but the one style of place you seek out on any
islandnistic get away any where in the world. Now for the nuggets. They have $2 (usd) margaritas until 8 p.m. although it should be until 9 p.m. if you ask me. And they
have the best shots I have ever tasted especially one called something like a Grape Powerbomb. The food is immaculate in flavor and
detail, and you just can't beat a 2 dollar taco. I plan to frequent there as my
go to hang out because it captured my heart and made me feel right at home.
